PREPARING FOR YOUR AUDIOLOGY APPOINTMENT
Preparing for your audiology appointment is important if you want to get the most from your session with our audiologists.
We have made it convenient to use preparation tools developed by the Ida Institute. The Ida Institute is an independent, non-profit organisation working to integrate person-centered care in hearing rehabilitation.
You don’t have to use all of the tools available. Instead, use the ones that apply most to your situation. The tools are free of charge and you do not need to submit personal information to get your results.

Why Improve My Hearing
Why Improve My Hearing can help you think about how important it is for you to improve your communication. You will choose situations where you have difficulty hearing, then answer a few short questions about how important it is for you to do something about it. Save your notes as a PDF or email them to your audiologist to discuss at your first appointment.

Living Well with Hearing Loss
Living Well is designed to help you explain where and when it is most important to communicate well. Choose different communication situations and describe how you manage them. Complete the tool with someone close to you (such as your spouse) who might have another point of view. Email or print out your session to discuss at your appointment.

The People I Talk To
The People I Talk To will help you prepare for your appointment. We will ask you whom you talk to most often and how you can improve your communication with them.

Tinnitus Thermometer
The Tinnitus Thermometer is a tool to help you explain to your hearing care professional how you’re experiencing tinnitus right now. You will be asked three brief questions and will send your answers to your hearing care professional to discuss at your next appointment. How you feel about your tinnitus may change, so you may be asked to complete this tool before more than one appointment.
